The sculpture is dedicated to the Royal Air Force squadron which, served from the Lissett Airfield, now the site  of Lissett wind farm.

Located at the entrance to the wind farm, the memorial depicts airmen "emerging from the mist" and is inscribed with the names of 851 people from the 158 Squadron, Bomber Command, that lost their lives during the Second World War.
